My name is Nicole Graver, and I'm currently a senior studying fashion design with a major in sportswear and a very strong interest in activewear. I will be receiving my BFA degree in May 2017, and I already have my AAS degree from FIT, which I received while studying abroad at Polimoda, a design school in Florence, Italy. In addition to my current schooling, I have also worked part time at several retail locations, including two athletic wear stores, one vintage shop, and one activewear design company. Right now, I’m working at the vintage shop, Arbor Vitae Vintage. At Arbor Vitae, much of the repairs of garments (rips, patches, buttons, etc) fall into my hands and I take pride in being able to be someone my coworkers and employers can rely on to take care of these things. When I was employed at Brooklyn Running Company, I helped my boss visualize ideas for the store’s private label line of activewear. In my personal time, however, I love to explore and expand my fine arts background. I see fashion design as a way to express my love of fine arts, and through that I’m able to use different medias and techniques to represent my ideas. I also go to drawing nights at different locations around the city when I can, and through that I’m able to network and meet so many interesting and talented people while developing my skills.
