I received my Bachelors Degree in Fine Arts from the University of Hawaii, a Fashion Design Degree from Parsons – The New School for Design. Growing up in Hawaiʻi has instilled certain values in me. Such as how traditional practices and the perfection of ones craft is key to the longevity of our cultural aesthetics. As a designer in a competitive craft, incorporating my cultural thought process to create new works has also been a large advantage. I have been able to create garments inspired by my home, traditional practices, art and blend it with my Ney York experiences. The fashion design program has allowed me to hone and improve my technical garment construction skills and craft. During my time at Parsons, I also worked as a design assistant for Monif C Plus Size Designs and as an intern at with Gypsy Sport and The Fashion Jungle. Previously I worked as an assistant fashion designer, photographer, graphic designer, customer service representative, and stylist at numerous companies in the industry. Having the opportunity to go to such a competitive school and interning at these companies have strengthened my skills in fashion design: Sewing, Draping, Patternmaking, Fashion Drawing, Photography, Photoshop and Illustrator. As a young professional, I am keen on experiencing every facet of the design / art industry. It is crucial for me to gain well-rounded experiences in this fast paced and ever-changing market.
