I am an experienced and versatile accountant and bookkeeper. Most of my work experience has been with small companies and non-profit organizations. Some of the work that I have done as a financial accountant include reconciling general ledger accounts, performing month end closes, and preparing schedules and other support for year end audits. In addition, I have worked as an accountant or full charge bookkeeper in small organizations. Among the accounting functions that I have handled for small companies are accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll processing. I'm used to coming in to organizations to take on temporary assignments or projects, including handling the backlog of work or other types of issues that occur when a position has become vacant. While taking accounting classes and preparing for the CPA exam, I worked as a temp for over two years. My assignments usually lasted from two to four months and normally I received little or no introduction. Further, in my last position at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, I was employed as a contractual employee to provide financial administrative support for one of the institution's colleges. I worked there from January 2005 - November 2016. During my employment at the college, I filled in vacant financial positions as needed, ranging from payroll specialist to assistant dean of financial management. I often covered more than one position at a time. To sum up, I'm flexible and adaptable. I can cover a position temporarily, help to complete a project or perform a service on a recurring basis. I've worked primarily in small companies and non-profit organizations and have a pretty good understanding of the needs and problems of those types of organizations.
