I am a seasoned visual artist and art director with over 15 years experience in narrative illustration, children's books, book design and graphic design. I'm very personable and I have a great work ethic. I'm seeking visual narrative work (book and/or editorial illustration, storyboarding, graphic novels, etc.) As a freelance children’s book illustrator, I collaborate with editors and designers in accomplishing story objective(s) through research and visual development, from thumbnail sketches to finished illustrations. As a freelance book designer and art director, I work with editors and illustrators in establishing the visual identity of the story; acting as primary liaison between both, incorporating editorial and art direction comments into cohesive direction for the illustrator while supplying the typographical identity that best complements the artwork. I am familiar with various types of printed matter, having worked as an in-house graphic designer and illustrator for the San Francisco Study Center, a non-profit publishing house. I worked with the art director on all projects – including design, layout and illustration of a monthly newpaper, as well as newsletters, annual reports, posters, books, and marketing materials. I believe in the power of visual narrative and relish the challenge of communicating ideas through all of its aspects, be it illustration or design.
